Alcanada

Designed by Robert Trent Jones II, Club de Golf Alcanada’s stunning 18-hole course opened in 2003 and has since reached even greater heights with an extensive upgrade in 2019. Situated in the northern part of the Mediterranean island of Mallorca, Alcanada is located right by the sea and takes its name from a nearby island just off the shore which, complete with its own lighthouse, can be seen from most of the holes. Apart from the splendid sea view, players are surrounded by pine and olive groves throughout their round and, even though a young course, Alcanada is consistently recognised as one of the finest courses in Europe.

All golf courses in Mallorca enjoy the mild Mediterranean climate throughout the year, but during the height of summer, Alcanada benefits from a cool, coastal breeze, which is especially welcome. The club offers the finest facilities, exceptional attention to detail and the golfing experience has been made even more unforgettable thanks to a €700,000 renovation – completed in March 2019 –to replace all 18 greens, upgrade the irrigation, renew all sand in the bunkers and various other improvements.

The academy provides individual or group training, suited to all levels of ability, and the refurbished pro shop now offers golfers all the equipment and souvenirs to make the most of their visit, including top-of-the-range hire clubs. After the round, the restaurant and its dazzling terrace is an exquisite venue to taste delicious local and international cuisine, while enjoying a magnificent view of the surroundings.

Alcanada tackles caterpillar invasion in latest environmental initiative

Mallorca’s Club de Golf Alcanada has announced a new eco-friendly initiative to tackle a pine-eating species of caterpillar. The Pine Processionary, a moth native to the southern Mediterranean among other regions, is known for irritating hairs that can trigger allergic reactions in humans and animals and is named for the damage it can cause to trees.
