Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is a golfer’s paradise in the heart of Dubai. The resort incorporates an 18-hole championship golf course, 9-hole par-3 course, golf academy, seven restaurants and bars, the 225-bedroom Park Hyatt Dubai, 92 residential executive villas and a 121-berth marina. Undulating alongside the Dubai Creek and capped by its iconic and stylish clubhouse, the course at the Dubai Creek Golf & Yacht Club is a refreshingly different golfing experience.
The par-71 course measures 6,370 metres off the back tees, and is a memorable journey from the first tee to the 18th green. The manicured fairways are pristine, undulating, and demarcated by mounds, date and palm trees, but also by water. Apart from the Creek, which comes into play on four holes, several lakes add to the beauty and difficulty of the course. Multiple tees ensure that golfers of all calibre enjoy their day out on the course. While length off the tee is certainly advantageous, emphasis should always be on accuracy – especially on approach shots – with many greens multi-tiered with subtle borrows.
Dubai Creek sets up for a thrilling finale to a round with two closing par fours, with both holes guarded by the Creek which runs the entire length of the left side of both fairways. While the 17th can be conquered with some smart play, the 18th requires two well struck shots to find the putting surface in regulation. There is water on the left and a long bunker on the right, beyond which is water again. A good drive will still leave you with a long iron into the multi-tiered and sloping green, which is guarded at the front and right by a body of water.
