The Dunas Course at Terras da Comporta in Portugal has confirmed its status as one of global golf’s most prestigious new venues after joining a select group of courses to partner with the iconic Swiss watch brand Rolex. The new collaboration between Vanguard Properties – the owner of Terras da Comporta – Rolex and David Rosas, the regional representative of Rolex, will see the installation of several of Rolex’s world-famous watches and clocks at the exclusive venue near Lisbon.
Renowned for its commitment to excellence, Rolex has had a historic relationship with golf for more than five decades since first partnering with golf legend Arnold Palmer in 1967, and has partnered with landmark tournaments and courses, as well as the world’s most prestigious courses.
Named as the ‘World’s Best Golf Course’ at last year’s World Golf Awards, The Dunas Course – architect David McLay-Kidd’s first golf course design project in mainland Europe – has won widespread international acclaim since opening in October 2023. A second 18-hole championship layout, The Torre Course, is set to open this summer and is being tipped to make a similar impact when it is unveiled in June.
“Having the iconic Rolex brand at The Dunas Course is more than a recognition of the course’s international status,” said Rodrigo Ulrich, director of golf at Terras da Comporta. “It is also a reinforcement of Terras da Comporta’s commitment to offering memorable and incomparable experiences to our players and visitors.
“With this collaboration, The Dunas Course has reaffirmed its position as a place where time, sport and sophistication converge. Rolex’s presence on the course symbolises not only the precision and punctuality that are fundamental to the pace of the game, but also the prestige and quality that define the golf experience in Terras da Comporta.”
José Cardoso Botelho, CEO of Vanguard Properties, said: “The integration of Rolex at The Dunas Course reflects not only recognition of the excellence already achieved in this field, but also our vision for Terras da Comporta as a world-class global destination. We intend to continue to develop projects that combine innovation, sophistication and respect for nature, creating spaces that offer truly unique experiences and raise quality standards in every detail.”
Pedro Rosas, CEO of David Rosas, added: “This moment reinforces Rolex’s historical connection to golf, a sport that shares the same values of precision, elegance and dedication to excellence. It is a privilege to collaborate on this partnership which affirms Terras da Comporta as a leading destination in the worlds of golf and luxury.”
