A Presidential seal of approval for Son Gual after Barak Obama visit

One of many reasons to visit Son Gual – besides its spectacular golf course and ‘world-class’ facilities – is the club’s proximity to the airport on Palma de Mallorca which has its main runway less than 4km away from the clubhouse.

As a result, Son Gual has attracted many flying visitors to the golf course over the years, but perhaps, none quite so famous as former US President, Barak Obama who visited and played the worldclass.golf destination on a recent visit to the island.

President Obama, who is a member of The Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, spent some time on holiday on the Spanish island visiting friends, arriving by private jet.

“A good friend of mine is President Obama’s golf coach, so Son Gual were asked if we could host him for a round, which we were delighted to do,” said Andreas Pamer, general manager of Son Gual.

“I believe President Obama flew in the night before, and the following morning we welcomed him to Son Gual where he enjoyed our practice facilities and golf course, all under the watchful eye of the Secret Service, who even asked for aircraft to be diverted away from the golf course.

“It was such an honour to host President Obama, and as Son Gual was the only golf course that he played during his visit, the entire team at Son Gual were so delighted we could meet – and exceed – his expectations.”
