The Definition of a ‘World-Class’ Golf Destination...

To meet the strict entry criteria of worldclass.golf, prospective member destinations must demonstrate uncompromising standards across four key areas of their entire golf operation, while demonstrating it delivers a visitor experience which is truly ‘world-class’.

Course Presentation

The starter should provide tees, pin positions, and pace-of-play information on the first tee, while the condition of the course should always be pristine, with tees, greens, surrounds and fairways maintained to a high standard. Whenever possible, the starter should recommend preferred tee boxes based on ability and handicap, allowing guests of all standards the opportunity to play well and enjoy their round.

Practice Facilities

Practice facilities need to be of the highest standard, and must include a range, short-game area with putting green, and the ability – climate permitting – of hitting range balls from grass as opposed to mats, or artificial tee lines. Range balls should ideally be stacked in pyramids, and only quality practice balls used. If a ball dispenser is in operation, all tokens must be included as part of the green fee.

Clubhouse & Locker Rooms

The clubhouse needs to be warm and welcoming, while at the same time functional, with visitors greeted with sincerity before being invited to make use of the changing facilities. The locker room should include the use of premium-grade lockers, with complimentary toiletries and refreshments on offer, while the pro shop would be expected to be stocked with quality apparel brands from the world of golf.

Food & Beverage

Superb cuisine paired with fine wines should be on the menu for any dining experience after a round of golf, coupled with a selection of local beers and low-alcohol alternatives, all served in a relaxed and stylish atmosphere. On-course, and also at the halfway house, a range of snacks and hot and cold beverages should be available, with a refreshment cart on-course in hotter climates.
